Background 2012

In 2012, we pedalled away in the company of Antonio, a 13 year old boy from Cordoba, also suffering from cerebral palsy.

  • CAMINO: Roncesvalles-Santiago. July (from 24th June to 8th July)
For 2012, we had arranged to follow the East Road, but a telephone call taken a couple of months beforehand changed our plans. It was a call from Javier Luque and, by way of a presentation, I will use his own words. “I’m Javier, from Cordoba, Antonio’s father, a 12 year old boy with cerebral palsy. Antonio can’t walk, speak nor fend for himself, although he understands and recognizes people, giving them the best that he can: a gaze bristling with life and an angelic smile”. Javier called us to ask for our support and company on his DisCamino project. He had recently acquired a Duet – a tandem tricycle where only one does the pedalling, the person at the back, because the front part is a wheelchair linked to a bike frame. And we told him that we would.

So, the following summer, in the last week of June and the first fortnight of July, once again we followed the French Road, this time with Javier and Antonio’s Duet. On this video, you will find out and hear from Javier the reason for this DisCamino:
